Notes

Cutleaf lilac (Syringa persica) is a shrub for borders and hedges, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Pale violet, fragrant flowers open in early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Weigela, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Poppy mallow.
