Notes
'Daredevil' peony (Paeonia 'Daredevil') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The large, single flowers are garnet-red and open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Fern-like foliage adds fine texture, and butterflies visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Blue fescue, Niobe clematis, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Sweet woodruff.
