Notes
'Dark Promise' peony (Paeonia 'Dark Promise') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, beet-root purple flowers open early and measure over 5 inches across, so give the stems support for the best display. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.
Pairs well with Praying Hands hosta, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Nodding onion.
