'Dark Star' pineapple lily (Eucomis 'Dark Star') is a bulb for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. Burgundy red, speckled leaves are topped with burgundy, pineapple-like flower stems in late summer. Rabbits tend to pass it by. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Foxglove, Purple top, and Society garlic.
