Notes

'Dark Stranger' peony (Paeonia 'Dark Stranger') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant blooms are blackish crimson-maroon with a bold yellow center, and butterflies and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Michael Haworth-Booth bred it.

Pairs well with Patriot hosta, Annabelle hydrangea, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
