Notes

'Defender of Rome' peony (Paeonia 'Defender of Rome') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant light yellow blooms age to light pink and attract butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Joshua Scholten bred it.

Pairs well with Blue Mouse Ears hosta, Annabelle hydrangea, and Prairie dropseed.
