Notes
'Divisilobum Densum' soft shield fern (Polystichum setiferum 'Divisilobum Densum') is a fern for shade gardens, woodland settings, borders, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its fronds have an arching habit and grow at a moderate pace. The fronds add winter interest to the garden. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.
Pairs well with Sum and Substance hosta, Foam flower, and Japanese forest grass.
