Notes
'Herrenhausen' soft shield fern (Polystichum setiferum 'Herrenhausen') is a fern for shade gardens, woodland settings, borders, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It stays evergreen, so it adds winter interest. The arching fronds reach 12 to 18 inches tall and wide.
