Notes

'Double Decker' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Double Decker') is a perennial for borders, cut flower use, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The light pink and cream flowers open in early summer and have a slight fragrance. Each stem carries three buds and has good stem strength. William Henry Krekler bred it, and the double-decked blooms have nicely rounded guard petals.

Pairs well with Francee hosta, Bellwort, and Cinnamon fern.
