Notes

'Double Take Scarlet' flowering quince (Chaenomeles speciosa 'Double Take Scarlet') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It blooms in early to late spring and sometimes in winter, and it draws butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It also tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Armenian grape hyacinth, and First Knight fountain grass.
