Notes

'Dragonwick' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Dragonwick') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Muryl Kostiuk bred it. The single, blood red flowers open in early to mid spring and have a yellow center of stamens. Strong stems hold 2 to 3 buds each, and the blooms do not fade when cut.

Pairs well with Bellwort, False Solomon's seal, and Cinnamon fern.
