Notes

'Dumelow's Seedling' apple (Malus domestica 'Dumelow's Seedling') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Richard Dumeller bred it, and the apple is grown for cooking, juice, and a tart puree with strong apple flavor. The fruit keeps for 3 months or more, and bees visit the spring blooms. Plant a second apple nearby, since it is not self-fertile.

Pairs well with Pink Lemonade blueberry, American persimmon, and Wormwood.
