Notes

'Dutch Chocolate' wild indigo (Baptisia 'Dutch Chocolate') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Purple-brown flowers open in spring and bloom again in summer. Butterflies and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Little bluestem, Catnip, and Lemon Queen sunflower.
