Notes

'Egyptian' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Egyptian') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It blooms in early summer with a Japanese type flower. Two rows of guard petals surround a center of fine petaloids. Mrs. Ruth H. Brant bred it.

Pairs well with Tiger lily, Prairie dropseed, and Carnation.
