Notes

'El Madrigal' bush honeysuckle (Diervilla splendens 'El Madrigal') is a shrub for hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. Yellow flowers open in late spring and early to mid summer, and the leaves turn color in fall. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows 24 to 36 inches tall and wide, so it suits a low hedge.

Pairs well with Ruby Spice sweet pepperbush, Purrsian Blue nepeta, and Royal fern.
