Notes

'Eldorado' peony (Paeonia 'Eldorado') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Edward Auten, Jr bred it, and the double red blooms are fragrant with some petaloids in the full center. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Butterflies and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Praying Hands hosta, Stargazer lily, Indian grass, and Phantom panicle hydrangea.
