Notes

'Esplanade' peony (Paeonia 'Esplanade') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The rose red blooms have dark flares and open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Butterflies visit the flowers, and Derek Irvine bred it.

Pairs well with September Charm anemone, David garden phlox, and Greig's tulip.
