Notes

'Esther' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Esther') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type flowers have lilac-pink petals around a white center and open in mid to late spring. The plant stays medium size and compact. H.A. Terry bred it.

Pairs well with Brown-eyed Susan, Siberian squill, Tall fescue, and Cinnamon fern.
