Notes

European silver fir (Abies alba) is an evergreen tree for borders, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly and has an erect shape with gray, silver, and green foliage. Deer tend to pass it by. Give it plenty of room, since it grows into a large tree.

Pairs well with Japanese maple, Japanese forest grass, and Toad lily.
