Notes

'Excelsior' Spanish bluebell (Hyacinthoides hispanica 'Excelsior') is a bulb for borders, containers, woodland gardens, and naturalized drifts. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It bears purple blue flowers from early to late spring, and bees visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. The clumps grow quickly.

Pairs well with Lungwort, Yellow trout-lily, and Sedge.
