Notes

'Expectation' peony (Paeonia 'Expectation') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen plantings, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Cream blooms with pink highlights and a red center open in early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Butterflies visit the flowers, and Derek Irvine bred this plant.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Burnet, and Lily.
