Notes
'Fiery Crater' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Fiery Crater') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dark red single blooms with fuchsia shading open in late spring. Walter Marx bred it, and the strong wiry stems hold the flowers well for cutting.
Pairs well with Black Hero tulip, Sedge, and Blue sage.
