Notes

'Fire Dragon' peony (Paeonia 'Fire Dragon') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. The large maroon-red Japanese blooms have a center cup of incurved staminodes, red lined with gold. Julian L. Janus bred it, and the flowers are fragrant.

Pairs well with White Feather hosta, Stella de Oro daylily, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
