Notes
'Fireplace' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Fireplace') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The dark mahogany red blooms shade to lighter tips and open in mid spring. The colors do not fade, and the cut stems last well in a vase. Ernest Flint Kelsey bred it.
Pairs well with Rainbow's End hosta, Monkshood, and Grape hyacinth.
