Notes
Fox sedge (Carex vulpinoidea) is a grass-like plant for meadows, rain gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. It forms tussocks with fine-textured, bristly fruiting heads that look like a fox's tail. It colonizes disturbed, open, moist ground well, and birds visit it.
Pairs well with Pickerel weed, Royal fern, Smooth aster, and Indian grass.
