Notes
'Frank Newbold' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Frank Newbold') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type blooms bear a broad cushion of yellow-edged staminodes in mid to late spring. Compact plants hold the flowers well above the foliage. Walter L. Gumm bred it.
Pairs well with Phantom panicle hydrangea, Francee hosta, Sedge, and Little Beauty tulip.
