Notes

'Freda' clematis (Clematis 'Freda') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. The red blooms are fragrant and draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. 'Freda' Deacon bred it as a seedling of 'Pink Perfection'.

Pairs well with Clematis, Mexican orange blossom, and Concha ceanothus.
