'French Blue' Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris 'French Blue') is a tree for specimen, accent, privacy screen, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its columnar shape grows at a rapid rate and stays evergreen all year. The needles are fragrant, and birds visit the tree. Deer rarely make it their first choice.
