Notes

'Furnace' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Furnace') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The full double flowers have no stamens and glow dark red. It blooms late in spring and flowers freely for a red peony. Walter J. Guille bred it.

Pairs well with Arizona Sun blanket flower, Prairie dropseed, and Miss Kim lilac.
