Notes

'Gaiety' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Gaiety') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It is a Japanese type with bright red blooms and a full golden center. The flowers open in late spring, later than most peonies. Hans Peter Sass bred it.

Pairs well with Immortality iris, Matrona october daphne, Bells of Ireland, and Cinnamon fern.
