Notes

Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides) is a shrub for borders, containers, specimen planting, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows into a dense, evergreen mound about 5 to 6 feet tall and wide. The fragrant blooms open in spring and again in summer, and they attract bees. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Tuscarora lagerstroemia, Daylily, Sweet alyssum, and Globemaster allium.
