Notes

'Crown Jewel' forest gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides 'Crown Jewel') is a shrub for borders, containers, specimen planting, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Double white blooms are fragrant and open in spring and again in summer. Bees and birds visit the plant, and the dense evergreen leaves stay on all year. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Blue star, Carolina jessamine, Wild bergamot, and Southern magnolia.
