Notes

'Frostproof' forest gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides 'Frostproof') is a shrub for borders, containers, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The rose-like double flowers have an intense fragrance and appear most often in early summer. It sits low on the menu for deer. Plant it in a protected spot and mulch the base in winter.

Pairs well with Rose of sharon, Serviceberry, and Anemone.
