Notes

'German Medusa' peony (Paeonia 'German Medusa') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dark red, fragrant flowers open in spring, with 4 to 9 blooms on each stem. Wolfgang Giessler bred it. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with June hosta, Phantom panicle hydrangea, Cheerfulness daffodil, and Western sword fern.
