Notes

'Germanicus' peony (Paeonia 'Germanicus') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Early double flowers are an intense red and look like carnations. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Plants stand upright, so they do not need support.

Pairs well with June hosta, Black Parrot tulip, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Phantom panicle hydrangea.
