Notes

'Goldcrest' Chinese witch hazel (Hamamelis mollis 'Goldcrest') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its fragrant yellow flowers have maroon at the petal bases, and birds visit the shrub. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Birds visit it too.

Pairs well with Inkberry, Autumn fern, Snake's head, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.
