Notes

'Mohonk Red' witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana 'Mohonk Red') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, winter interest, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, clay soil. It bears fragrant red flowers with yellow petal tips in autumn and again in winter, and bees visit them. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows at a moderate rate and can reach 240 inches tall.

Pairs well with Inkberry, Ostrich fern, and Switchgrass.
