Notes

'Golden Falls' Japanese maple (Acer palmatum 'Golden Falls') is a tree for ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun and average moisture. Its weeping branches cascade from a height of about 1 to 1.5 feet, and branches that reach the ground trail as a ground cover. The spring leaves are golden yellow with orange-red edges, turn chartreuse in summer, and glow orange and bright red in fall. You can stake it to grow up to 6 feet tall in 10 years.

Pairs well with Northwind switchgrass, Duke blueberry, and Spiderwort.
