Notes

'Golden Handshake' peony (Paeonia 'Golden Handshake') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Ruffled mid yellow petals with red flecks open in early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Butterflies visit the flowers, and Derek Irvine bred this peony.

Pairs well with Hardy geranium, Weigela, Lily, and Sweet William.
