Notes

'Golden Queen' peony (Paeonia 'Golden Queen') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Light yellow blooms with red flares open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Toad lily, Big bluestem, Sweet woodruff, and Blue Arrow Rocky mountain juniper.
