Notes

Goldie's shield fern (Dryopteris goldieana) is a fern for borders, accents, and woodland shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet soil of most types. The fronds show golden-yellow at the midrib that blends to dark green at the edges. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It grows at a moderate pace and needs little care.

Pairs well with Patriot hosta, Japanese forest grass, Astilbe, and Annabelle hydrangea.
