Notes
'Governor Mouton' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Governor Mouton') is an evergreen shrub for accent planting, hedges, espaliers, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and moist soil. Large, semi-double, peony-style red flowers carry irregular splashes of white and bloom in profusion from late winter to early spring. It sits low on the menu for deer. Plant it in a protected spot.
Pairs well with Autumn fern, Francee hosta, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
