Notes

'Grand Commander' lily (Lilium speciosum 'Grand Commander') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The fragrant flowers are lilac purple with white edges and red spots. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms. L. Berbee introduced it in 1964.

Pairs well with Sarah Bernhardt peony, Little bluestem, Bobo hydrangea, and Jackmanii clematis.
