Notes

'Grandiflora' blue sage (Salvia azurea 'Grandiflora') is a perennial for borders, meadows, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Sky blue flowers open on arching stems in autumn, and hummingbirds and butterflies love them. It sits low on the menu for deer. Too much moisture, fertilizer, or shade can make the stems floppy, so you can mow it periodically or stake it.

Pairs well with Blue-eyed grass, Sundrops, and Japanese forest grass.
