Notes

'Guidon' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Guidon') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears rose-pink double flowers with wide petals in early summer. Strong stems hold the blooms upright. Col. Jesse C. Nicholls bred it as a seedling of 'Othello'.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, Wild bergamot, and Japanese spirea.
