Notes
'Gypsy' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Gypsy') is a perennial for borders and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant crimson-pink blooms open from mid to late spring into early summer. Each flower has a golden-yellow center and buff edges. Stiff, upright stems hold the blooms, and George Hollis bred it in 1904.
Pairs well with Gooseneck loosestrife, Maiden pink, Charles Joly lilac, and Cinnamon fern.
