Notes

'Habanera' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Habanera') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single light red flowers open in early to mid spring, and the edges fade lighter as each bloom ages. The plant has a good size and habit. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Gooseneck loosestrife, Maiden pink, Royal fern, and Blue Muffin arrowwood viburnum.
