Notes

'Hänse Herms' switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Hänse Herms') is a grass for borders, rain gardens, winter interest, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet soil of most types. Butterflies and birds visit it, and it tolerates drought and salt. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. You can leave the stems standing for winter interest.

Pairs well with Standing Ovation little bluestem, Gooseneck loosestrife, and Witch hazel.
