Notes
'Hapdell' sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua 'Hapdell') is a tree for specimen use, low maintenance gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast into a pyramidal shape and shows fall color. Bees visit the yellow-green blooms in spring and summer. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.
Pairs well with Bur oak, Autumn fern, Sedge, and Bobo hydrangea.
