Notes

'Rotundiloba' sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua 'Rotundiloba') is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and low maintenance landscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast into a pyramidal shape and turns color in fall. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Greenish blooms open in spring and summer, and bees and birds visit the tree.

Pairs well with Serviceberry, Autumn fern, and Japanese forest grass.
